Inn on Irving Place
Only the address indicates the location. The name is not posted on the townhouse. In the heart of New York's historical Gramercy Park stands The Inn at Irving Place, Lady Mendl's Tea Salon & Desert Parlor, and Cibar. Built in 1834, the two landmark townhouses have been meticulously transformed to recreate a bygone era of gracious living while offering personalized service and amenities required by today's discriminating traveler.
The twelve guest rooms and suites are furnished with exquisite antiques reminiscent of the New York of Edith Wharton. Yet all the modern comforts, from remote climate control to computers with Internet access are available. Each of the suites has a luxurious sitting room that recreates the elegance of the 19th century. In keeping with this dignified atmosphere, you can enjoy breakfast in bed or take it in the guest parlour. The inn is a member of Small Luxury Hotel and Charming Hotels
Inn New York City
Located on the upper West side, the Inn New York City is a beautifully-pampered brownstone that has been transformed into an artwork by a mother and her daughter. Ruth Mensch, an interior decorator and her daughter, Elyn, a fabric designer, have combined their formidable talents to create a fantasy Victorian world with interiors that are both romantic and dramatic.
The result is four incredible suites. The first floor Opera Suite, over fifty feet in length, has its own terrace. A queen- sized bed with stained-glass headboard and an antique quilt faces a woodburning fireplace. In the center of the room, a Baby Grand piano leads to a couch, side chairs, and raised platform for dining. The entire space is abloom with rose-adorned fabrics and carpeting.
The second floor Spa Suite is covered in blues, soft and romantic. A built-in king-sized bed sits on a stepped oak platform. Built-in armoires, a lady's desk, a soft easy chair, and fireplace are just the beginning. In another room, an oversized uniquely decorated spa overwhelms: a generous double Jacuzzi, a sauna, bidet, genuine old barberchair, and a wall cabinet artfully filled with Victorian dolls and bric-a-brac complete the scene.
All of the suites have refrigerators stocked with delicacies from Zabar's and other legendary food palaces. Individual needs are catered to and guests feel like royalty.
