Clinton Street
The New York Times recently called Clinton Street the "Restaurant Row" of the Lower East Side, and it's true -- an amazing number of bars, bistros, and gourmet eateries have sprouted on this avenue in the last few years. The pioneer was chef Wylie Dufresne at 71 Clinton Fresh Food, the street's first spot to draw "destination diners" from all over the city. Last year, Dufresne moved on to open the aptly initialed WD-50, across the street and down the block. But there are a wealth of other notables as well, interspersed between the shops, salons, and assorted businesses found on the three longish blocks between Houston and Delancey.
