Learning Can Be Fun - New York City Student Program

New York City is a giant classroom. Instead of books, desks and blackboards, you learn from different kinds of people, interesting new places and memorable experiences. This program offers a wide range of day activities in diverse areas for all types of students. Programs can be shortened or lengthened depending on the amount of time the group is spending in the New York area. We offer hotels in both New York City and in nearby New Jersey. All tours are guided by a professional licensed New York City Tour Guide and enhanced by local specialists at the different sites.

Day 1 – Medieval New York

  • Breakfast.
  • Meet your local guide at the hotel.
  • Bus transfer for morning activities at Cathedral Church St. John the Divine.
  • Lunch at local restaurant in Harlem.
  • Afternoon activities at the Cloisters in northern Manhattan.
  • Dinner.

Day 2 – New York: the Gateway to America

  • Breakfast.
  • Meet your local guide at the hotel.
  • Ferry to Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.
  • Return to Manhattan and drive to South Street Seaport for lunch.
  • One-hour late afternoon tour of Lower East Side Tenement Museum.
  • Dinner.

Day 3 – The Art of NYC

  • Breakfast
  • Meet your local guide at the hotel.
  • Transfer to the Metropolitan Museum of Art for Student Program
  • Lunch
  • Walk through Central Park (choose a general or specific topic or enjoy a scavenger hunt), take an Art History tour of Rockefeller Center, or visit the Skyscraper Museum.
  • Pre-theater and tickets to a Broadway Show.

Day 4 – Brooklyn – Early US History or Architecture and Nature

  • Breakfast.
  • Meet your local guide at the hotel.
  • Drive to Brooklyn. (Depending on group size, students can walk over the Brooklyn Bridge accompanied by guide.)
  • Motorcoach/walking tour of the Revolutionary War sites of Brooklyn and lunch.
  • Return to Manhattan for Dinner.
  • OR
  • Breakfast
  • Meet your local guide at the hotel.
  • Drive to Brooklyn. (Depending on group size, students can walk over the Brooklyn Bridge accompanied by guide.)
  • Visit the old neighborhoods of Brooklyn.
  • Boxed lunch
  • Visit Prospect Park and the Botanical Garden.
  • Return to Manhattan for Dinner.

Day 5 – Staten Island – Culture and Colonial Times

  • Breakfast
  • Meet your local guide at the hotel.
  • Transfer to Staten Island Ferry terminal for trip to Staten Island. Enjoy views of the Statue of Liberty.
  • Morning at the Cultural Center (your visit can focus on art, Chinese culture, horticulture and botany, or maritime history).
  • Lunch at Cultural Center.
  • Visit and tour a historic colonial town and see how life was lived.
  • Dinner and maybe a Brooklyn Cyclones minor league baseball game in Coney Island.

Day 6 – Queens – A trip around the world in one Borough

  • Breakfast.
  • Meet your local guide at the hotel.
  • Drive to Queens and tour (by bus and on foot) the ethnic areas of Queens--the most ethnically diverse real estate in the world.
  • Lunch.
  • Visit an outdoor sculpture garden in Queens or one of the borough’s many art museums.
  • Dinner and maybe a New York Mets baseball game.

Day 7 – The Bronx – Flora, Fauna, and History.

  • Breakfast.
  • Meet your local guide at the hotel.
  • Drive to the Bronx and visit the Bronx Zoo.
  • Lunch.
  • Visit the New York Botanical Garden or drive a little further North to St. Paul Church, rich in revolutionary war history.
  • Dinner and maybe a New York Yankees baseball game.

Remember with Beyond Times Square, all of our tours can be mixed and matched, lengthened or shortened to meet your group’s needs. Tours also can be themed (Art, Revolutionary War History, Industry and Business, Music, etc) if your students have a special interest.
